Aquarium Set-up & Maintenance Workshop

Classroom aquariums are a great way to excite and engage students to learn about aquatic animals while also supporting your curriculum! Please join us as aquarists from the New England Aquarium Fishes department discuss conservation efforts and provide technical training on aquarium set-up and maintenance. Participants will have the opportunity to set up their own freshwater aquarium as well as observe the steps to set up a saltwater aquarium. The workshop will provide teachers with guidance on sourcing of appropriate fish and awareness of suitable materials to use in the classroom. In addition, Teacher Services staff will lead discussions on how you may align the aquariums with your curriculum, suggest standards-based activities, and offer follow-up support. Participants will leave with the practical knowledge and activities supplies to help them start a sustainable aquarium in their classroom.

This workshop provided with generous support from the Northeast Council of Aquarium Societies (NEC) and The Pioneer Valley Aquairum Society.
